About Sandmark House

Get to know the heart of Sandmark House,
Kerstin Chelius, the owner

I was born and raised in Sweden. After marrying my American husband I arrived in New York in
1965. In 1966, with the support of my husband, I purchased a small import/manufacturing company in
Manhattan. Coptex Import was the manufacturer of the lovely "Lull A Baby" Music Box. At that time
100% of the business was wholesale selling to department stores. At that same time I started a mail
order company, Sandmark House Inc. - Sandmark was my maiden name.

The idea was to be able to market the Lull A Baby music box directly to the consumer in areas that
were not covered by the large department stores. After a short period of time I added the "Music Box
Door Chime" to the line of exclusively manufactured music boxes. It was marketed mainly to
independent gift shops through out the United States. After a couple of years, I expanded the business
to include the import/wholesale of Cuckoo clocks from Germany.

By now the business had outgrown the space in Manhattan so I and my husband decided to move to
Jacksonville, FL., It was here that I expanded Sandmark House to include the retail sale of clocks,
music boxes and clock/ watch repair. By 1978 Kerstin moved the business out to its current location
on 10913 Beach Blvd. This has proven to be a great location for both the repair and the retail sales
division of the company. All along Sandmark House has sold the music boxes both to stores and
directly to consumers wherever they may be.

maker who started with me in 1970. Tony has worked as a master clockmaker for Sandmark House
since 1994. Felix, Joe's son is a third generation clockmaker. Connie has been with the company since
